Tanisha Mukherjee was born on January 1, 1978 in Mumbai,Maharashtra,India. Tanisha is a Bollywood actress from Bengali-Marathi descent. She is the daughter of Somu Mukherjee and actress Tanuja. Her family is well exposed to Indian Film Industry, working for Bollywood films and assignments right from 1940’s. Her relatives in Film Industry includes, Sashadhar Mukherjee is her paternal grandfather was a film director and producer who was called as Stalwart in Bombay.Satirani Devi is Tanisha’s grandmother who is the sister of the famous personalitites, Ashok Kumar, Anoop Kumar and Kishore Kumar. Joy Mukherjee and Deb Mukherjee are her uncles, Rattan Bai is her great grand mother, Shobahana Samarath is her grand mother, Nutan is her aunt.Tanisha has a elder sister Kajol, who is a very popular Bollywood actress. The film Sarkar of Ram Gopal Varma, starring Amitabh Bachan and Abhishek Bachan was the first hit film for her. Tanisha did the major role in the film, Neal N Nikki which did not hit well at the box office.
The new release of Late Director Vikraman’s “Unnalae Unnalae” in Kollywood Industry brought her more fame for playing a naughty modern girl’s role against Sada a precarious orthodox girl. The other films she did were Sssshhh, Tango Charlie, Popcorn Khao Mast Ho Jao, Nunya and recently, One Two Three.
